Created by Long – Wing Chun is well known for its structure and in our school we focus on the stance (Yee ji kim yeung ma 二字鉗羊馬), refer to figure 1.
When the major points in the structures are aligned (represented by the red dots, also sometimes referred to as Axis), it easily allows the force to be directed downwards through the body to the legs then into the stance (figure 1 & 2). Structure must be maintained and not compromise during any movements (figure 3 & 4).
Your first class will be on structure and stance, it is the most basic skill. However it’s also the foundation of all your other skills are built upon. Thus we recommend you have a solid understanding of this before attempting more advance techniques.
